Interstate 75 spans the region from north to south. Once you cross the Georgia border into Florida, it's about six hours to Fort Myers and another half hour to Naples. Alligator Alley, a section of Interstate 75, is a toll road ($1.50 to enter) that runs from Fort Lauderdale through the Everglades to Naples. The trip takes about three hours. U.S. 41 also runs the length of the region. Also known as the Tamiami Trail, U.S. 41 goes through downtown Fort Myers and Naples and is also called Cleveland Avenue in the former and Ninth Street in the latter. McGregor Boulevard (Route 867) and Summerlin Road (Route 869), Fort Myers's main north-south city streets, head toward Sanibel and Captiva Islands. San Carlos Boulevard runs southwest from Summerlin Road to Fort Myers Beach, and Pine Island-Bayshore Road (Route 78) leads from North Fort Myers through northern Cape Coral onto Pine Island. In Naples, east-west trunks exiting off Interstate 75 include, from north to south, the Immokalee Road (Route 846) at the north edge of town, Pine Ridge Road (Route 896), and Route 951, which takes you also to Marco Island.
